5-Aminoisotonitazene is an opioid analgesic of the benzimidazole class, a metabolite of isotonitazine. The opioid potency of this drug is similar to isotonitazine. Tests to determine activity at the µ-opioid receptor using in vitro biological functional analysis in animals have shown that a high dosage of this substance will cause many side effects, such as vomiting, respiratory depression, and even death. The toxicological and pharmacological properties of the drug are poorly understood.
